In 2021, overseas shipments of semi-chemical fluting were finally on the rise to reach X tons after eight years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decline. Exports by Country

In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) was the main exporter of semi-chemical fluting, generating 60% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons), together comprising a 40% share of total exports.

Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the semi-chemical fluting exports, with a CAGR of -14.1% from 2012 to 2021. Uzbekistan (-15.3%) and Kyrgyzstan (-22.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kazakhstan (+14 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+2.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kyrgyzstan saw its share reduced by -16.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of -7.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Central Asia amounted to $X per ton, waning by -3.2% against the previous year. Export price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, semi-chemical fluting export price decreased by -7.8% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 24%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of semi-chemical fluting imported in Central Asia dropped notably to X tons, waning by -44.5% on 2020 figures. In general, imports showed a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 50% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
