Saudi Arabia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 6.1% share, followed by Indonesia (5.7%). Kuwait (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), India (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from South Korea increased at an average annual rate of +31.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+54.0%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+17.3%), Indonesia (+14.0%), the United Arab Emirates (+10.9%) and Kuwait (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +54.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-8.7%), Thailand (-16.9%) and Malaysia (-18.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. South Korea (+56 p.p.), Indonesia (+2.9 p.p.), India (+2.4 p.p.) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kuwait, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Thailand saw its share reduced by -1.7%, -14.2%, -16.3% and -31.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Korea ($X) remains the largest semi-chemical fluting supplier in Asia, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 6.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 5.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Korea stood at +33.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Saudi Arabia (-7.3% per year) and Indonesia (+15.5% per year).

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 37% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Among the main importing countries, Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a CAGR of +50.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 31% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Turkey ($X per ton) and India ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) and Yemen ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
