From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +1.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+286.5% per year) and the Czech Republic (+5.7% per year).

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +61.8% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 17%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, carpet imports reached $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Germany (X square meters), Turkey (X square meters) and the Netherlands (X square meters) were the main suppliers of carpet imports to Austria, together comprising 51% of total imports. Poland, Belgium, India, China and Egypt lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per square meter), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
