In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the largest non-alloy aluminium bar supplier in ASEAN, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Philippines ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Malaysia stood at X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Philippines (X% per year) and Vietnam (X% per year).

Non-alloy aluminium bar imports shrank to X tons in 2023, dropping by X% against 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar imports declined to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the seven major importers of non-alloy aluminium bars, rods and profiles, namely Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia, represented more than two-thirds of total import.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Cambodia (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Thailand ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Singapore ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2023, with a combined X% share of total imports. Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
Among the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2023, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
