In 2022, the average wooden particle board import price amounted to $9 per cubic meter, reducing by -12.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a dramatic decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $106 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($23 per cubic meter), while the price for South Korea totaled $9.2 per cubic meter.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-10.3%).

In 2022, the average wooden particle board export price amounted to $280 per cubic meter, with a decrease of -10.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 66% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $423 per cubic meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($683 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($30 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Sudan (+45.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, the amount of wooden particle board exported from Uganda reached 489 cubic meters, with an increase of 5.8% against the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
