Wheat Starch Price in Australia (FOB) - 2023
The average wheat starch export price stood at $561 per ton in July 2023, growing by 7.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 9.9% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $634 per ton. From December 2022 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($786 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($469 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wheat Starch Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022
The average wheat starch import price stood at $2,166 per ton in 2022, jumping by 62% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed pronounced growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 72%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Hong Kong SAR ($2,308 per ton) and the United States ($2,134 per ton), while the price for China ($1,649 per ton) and Japan ($2,096 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+22.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
