The average waffle and wafer import price stood at $6,908 per ton in August 2023, growing by 3.6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous month. The import price peaked in August 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($12,896 per ton), while the price for Costa Rica ($2,275 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average waffle and wafer export price amounted to $2,126 per ton, which is down by -7.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,334 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Waffle and Wafer Imports in the United States
For the fourth year in a row, the United States recorded growth in overseas purchases of waffles and wafers, which increased by 7% to 149K tons in 2022.
