Waferboard Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
The average waferboard import price stood at $368 per cubic meter in 2022, increasing by 7.3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 35%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $405 per cubic meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($626 per cubic meter), while the price for China ($136 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+45.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Waferboard Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average waferboard export price amounted to $164 per cubic meter, increasing by 1.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 13%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $270 per cubic meter. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($167 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Kenya totaled $162 per cubic meter.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tanzania (+5.3%).
Waferboard Imports in Uganda
In 2022, approx. 1.6K cubic meters of waferboards were imported into Uganda; with an increase of 12% compared with the previous year. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +87.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 67%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, waferboard imports skyrocketed to $593K in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 80% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Waferboard Exports in Uganda
In 2022, shipments abroad of waferboards decreased by -2.9% to 2.2K cubic meters, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 629% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 3.2K cubic meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, waferboard exports fell modestly to $359K in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 365% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $516K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
