Waferboard Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023

The average waferboard import price stood at $272 per cubic meter in September 2023, reducing by -4.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 10% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $348 per cubic meter in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($408 per cubic meter), while the price for Ukraine ($209 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Waferboard Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023

The average waferboard export price stood at $211 per cubic meter in September 2023, waning by -14% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 19% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $295 per cubic meter in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($513 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Germany ($144 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Waferboard Imports in Lithuania

In 2022, supplies from abroad of waferboards decreased by -5% to 442K cubic meters, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 9.8%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 518K cubic meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, waferboard imports rose markedly to $124M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 30%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Waferboard Exports in Lithuania

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of waferboards, when their volume decreased by -11% to 107K cubic meters. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 127%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 120K cubic meters, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, waferboard exports surged to $29M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 150% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
