Vitamin Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022
The average vitamin import price stood at $5,927 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -6.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 42%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $12,022 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($11,104 per ton), while the price for India ($3,186 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+14.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vitamin Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022
The average vitamin export price stood at $54,565 per ton in 2022, dropping by -5.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 81% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $91,151 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($99,600 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($6,742 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+61.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vitamin Imports in Nigeria
In 2022, purchases abroad of provitamins and vitamins decreased by -28.2% to 4K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 89% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 7.4K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, vitamin imports dropped significantly to $24M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 121%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $52M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
