Vinegar-Preserved Vegetable Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023

The average vinegar-preserved vegetable import price stood at $1,664 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -9.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 20% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,047 per ton. From December 2022 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,277 per ton), while the price for Lebanon ($1,013 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Vinegar-Preserved Vegetable Price in Australia (FOB) - 2023

The average vinegar-preserved vegetable export price stood at $2,857 per ton in August 2023, picking up by 68% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a modest expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, vinegar-preserved vegetable export price increased by +67.7% against July 2023 indices. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,832 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($3,622 per ton), while the average price for exports to Fiji ($1,839 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+37.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vinegar-Preserved Vegetable Imports in Australia

For the fourth consecutive year, Australia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of vegetables in vinegar other than potatoes, which increased by 7.5% to 31K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, vinegar-preserved vegetable imports soared to $57M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +48.1% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
