Vegetable Product Price in Peru (FOB) - 2021

In March 2020, the average vegetable product export price amounted to $2,508 per ton, waning by -7.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a abrupt downturn. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,945 per ton. From February 2020 to March 2020, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Free Zones.

From January 2020 to March 2020, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to 0.0% per month.

Vegetable Product Price in Peru (CIF) - 2022

The average vegetable product import price stood at $1,455 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 17% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 45% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,841 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($2,507 per ton), while the price for Spain ($766 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (+36.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Vegetable Product Exports in Peru

Vegetable product exports from Peru declined sharply to 2.2K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -18.5% on the previous year. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 14%.

In value terms, vegetable product exports dropped markedly to $8M in 2022. In general, exports recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 14% against the previous year.

Vegetable Product Imports in Peru

In 2022, supplies from abroad of vegetable products decreased by less than 0.1% to 103 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year.

In value terms, vegetable product imports surged to $149K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
