Vanilla Price in Italy (CIF) - 2022

The average vanilla import price stood at $100,968 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -37.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 185% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $391,957 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Madagascar ($150,374 per ton), while the price for France ($76,989 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+13.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vanilla Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average vanilla export price amounted to $76,110 per ton, waning by -43.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 1,654% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $357,474 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($233,698 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($5,065 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+75.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Vanilla Imports in Italy

In 2022, vanilla imports into Italy surged to 105 tons, rising by 53% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, vanilla imports reduced slightly to $11M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep setback.
