Unbleached Sulphate Pulp Price in the Philippines (CIF) - 2022
The average unbleached sulphate pulp import price stood at $819 per ton in 2022, surging by 20% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Russia ($847 per ton) and Japan ($847 per ton), while the price for Chile ($652 per ton) and New Zealand ($847 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Unbleached Sulphate Pulp Imports in the Philippines
In 2022, the amount of unbleached sulphate pulp imported into the Philippines fell rapidly to 14K tons, which is down by -27.2% against the year before. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 97% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 19K tons, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, unbleached sulphate pulp imports contracted to $11M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 132%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $13M, and then dropped in the following year.
