Tomato Price in Kenya (FOB) - 2022

The average tomato export price stood at $158 per ton in 2022, dropping by -62.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 57% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,701 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($328 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uganda totaled $145 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uganda (-5.7%).

The average tomato import price stood at $5,134 per ton in 2022, jumping by 405% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a significant expansion. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
