The average sulphites; thiosulphates import price stood at $775 per ton in August 2023, dropping by -3.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 34% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,062 per ton. From February 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($848 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($455 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+21.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a slight curtailment.
