Price for Tobacco, (Not Stemmed or Stripped) in India (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average export price for tobacco, (not stemmed or stripped)s amounted to $2,304 per ton, reducing by -7.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 41% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,407 per ton. From May 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($3,672 per ton), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($1,578 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+172.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for tobacco, (not stemmed or stripped)s amounted to $5,690 per ton, shrinking by -21.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 128%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $7,215 per ton in 2021, and then dropped notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($7,853 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($1,294 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
