In February 2022, the average sulphates; of aluminium export price amounted to $313 per ton, picking up by 8.7% against the previous month. Over the period from February 2021 to February 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2021 an increase of 29% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $349 per ton. From June 2021 to February 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In February 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Honduras ($360 per ton) and the United States ($341 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nicaragua ($257 per ton) and Ecuador ($287 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Honduras (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 68% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $588 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,548 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($229 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 18% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 6.2K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
