Sugar Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average sugar import price amounted to $2,025 per ton, surging by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 112% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $8,392 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Paraguay ($2,598 per ton), while the price for the UK stood at $659 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Paraguay (+88.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sugar Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average sugar export price amounted to $2,592 per ton, jumping by 41% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 117% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,619 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Togo ($2,220 per ton) and Malta ($2,200 per ton), while the average price for exports to Panama ($1,739 per ton) and Iraq ($2,180 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malta (+20.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugar Imports in Turkey
Sugar imports into Turkey skyrocketed to 3.2 tons in 2022, with an increase of 18% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 687% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, sugar imports surged to $6.6K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 307% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
