Spirits and Liqueurs Price in the UK (FOB) - 2023
The average spirits and liqueurs export price stood at $7.2 per litre in June 2023, with a decrease of -10.1% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 when the average export price increased by 5.9% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $8.0 per litre in May 2023, and then reduced in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($17.6 per litre), while the average price for exports to India ($3.1 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spirits and Liqueurs Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
The average spirits and liqueurs import price stood at $4.4 per litre in June 2023, with an increase of 5.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 18% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5.0 per litre. From November 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($12.9 per litre), while the price for Guyana ($1.5 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spirits and Liqueurs Exports in the UK
In 2022, the amount of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages exported from the UK rose modestly to 1.1B litres, picking up by 1.6% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 1.2B litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, spirits and liqueurs exports stood at $7.8B in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $7.9B in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
