The average spices; mixtures export price stood at $4,374 per ton in 2022, falling by -8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $5,066 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($8,092 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($806 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average spices; mixtures import price stood at $6,328 per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 8.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $9,283 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($12,949 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($2,384 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Spices; Mixtures Exports in Vietnam
In 2022, spices; mixtures exports from Vietnam expanded slightly to 1.9K tons, surging by 4.6% on the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 38%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 2.1K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, spices; mixtures exports contracted slightly to $8.1M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.1% over the last three-year period.
