Spices; Mixtures Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2023

The average spices; mixtures import price stood at $3,278 per ton in June 2023, picking up by 5% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 22% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,185 per ton. From December 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($4,622 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($1,175 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average spices; mixtures export price stood at $5,630 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -20.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 23% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,518 per ton. From January 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($7,003 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($1,643 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Spices; Mixtures Imports in Belgium

For the fourth consecutive year, Belgium recorded growth in purchases abroad of spices; mixtureses, which increased by 6.6% to 7.4K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, spices; mixtures imports reduced modestly to $30M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $31M, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

In value terms, spices; mixtures exports declined rapidly to $13M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 66%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $17M, and then reduced notably in the following year.
