In May 2023, the average speed changer import price amounted to $15,098 per ton, rising by 9.2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in May 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($46,724 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($5,322 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In May 2023, the average speed changer export price amounted to $19,495 per ton, dropping by -15.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 24% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $23,177 per ton, and then dropped sharply in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($48,640 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($10,417 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Speed Changer Exports in the Netherlands

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, speed changer exports skyrocketed to $487M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +50.2% against 2019 indices.
