Silicon Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
The average silicon import price stood at $2,741 per ton in July 2023, dropping by -14.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $4,074 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Iceland ($3,176 per ton) and Norway ($2,680 per ton), while the price for Russia ($2,200 per ton) and China ($2,577 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (-1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Silicon Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average silicon export price amounted to $2,836 per ton, shrinking by -7.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 33% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $4,245 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($3,888 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($2,566 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Silicon Imports in the Netherlands
For the fourth year in a row, the Netherlands recorded growth in supplies from abroad of silicon, which increased by 7% to 158K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, silicon imports soared to $489M in 2022. Overall, imports showed significant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Silicon Exports in the Netherlands
