In value terms, the largest sheet piling importing markets worldwide were the Philippines ($427M), the Netherlands ($246M) and Germany ($179M), together accounting for 34% of global imports. The UK, the United States, Canada, Belgium, Hong Kong SAR, France, Bangladesh, Denmark, Singapore and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.
Bangladesh, with a CAGR of +48.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices By Country
In 2022, the average sheet piling import price amounted to $1,160 per ton, rising by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 23% against the previous year. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+34.6%), the Netherlands (+5.9%), the Czech Republic (+5.8%) and Poland (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +34.6% from 2012-2022. The United Arab Emirates, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Germany, Qatar and Japan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.
