Sausage Price in Panama (CIF) - 2023
The average sausage import price stood at $6,388 per ton in July 2023, declining by -14.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 20% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,720 per ton. From May 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($10,322 per ton), while the price for the United States totaled $6,210 per ton.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sausage Price in Panama (FOB) - 2022
The average sausage export price stood at $4,251 per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 42% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,914 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was El Salvador ($4,623 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nicaragua totaled $2,723 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nicaragua (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sausage Imports in Panama
In 2022, approx. 2.9K tons of sausages and similar products of meat were imported into Panama; dropping by -23.6% compared with the previous year. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 30%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 3.8K tons, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
