Sausage Price in Guatemala (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average sausage import price amounted to $4,502 per ton, surging by 7.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $4,657 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,792 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($2,902 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Costa Rica (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sausage Price in Guatemala (FOB) - 2023
The average sausage export price stood at $3,202 per ton in June 2023, increasing by 3.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was El Salvador ($3,337 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nicaragua ($2,844 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nicaragua (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sausage Imports in Guatemala
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of sausages and similar products of meat increased by 3.4% to 7K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced decrease.
In value terms, sausage imports soared to $30M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
