Roasted Malt Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average roasted malt export price amounted to $1,146 per ton, growing by 9.5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 14% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in August 2023.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Denmark ($1,301 per ton) and Mozambique ($1,220 per ton), while the average price for exports to Israel ($892 per ton) and Cuba ($970 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sri Lanka (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Roasted Malt Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023
The average roasted malt import price stood at $1,702 per ton in August 2023, declining by -14.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a tangible increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, roasted malt import price decreased by +0.6% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 33% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,990 per ton in July 2023, and then contracted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($2,280 per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($1,051 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Roasted Malt Exports in Poland
In 2022, overseas shipments of roasted malt decreased by -1.2% to 21K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 31K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, roasted malt exports skyrocketed to $16M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $17M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
