Rice Bran Price in China (CIF) - 2022

The average rice bran import price stood at $410 per ton in 2022, rising by 10% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($411 per ton), while the price for the United States totaled $395 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+2.6%).

Rice Bran Price in China (FOB) - 2022

The average rice bran export price stood at $436 per ton in 2022, dropping by -9.2% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, rice bran export price increased by +12.4% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 66%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $480 per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Vietnam.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for South Korea amounted to +12.6% per year.

Rice Bran Imports in China

In 2022, overseas purchases of rice bran decreased by -16.6% to 432K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 84%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 519K tons, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, rice bran imports reduced to $177M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 138% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $193M, and then reduced in the following year.

Rice Bran Exports in China

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of rice bran, when their volume decreased by -15.9% to 343 tons. In general, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +50.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 407 tons, and then fell significantly in the following year.

In value terms, rice bran exports shrank rapidly to $149K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 90%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $196K, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
