Refined Groundnut Oil Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
The average refined groundnut oil import price stood at $1,195 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -33.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 93%. The import price peaked at $3,242 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($13,300 per ton), while the price for China ($405 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kenya (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Refined Groundnut Oil Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
The average refined groundnut oil export price stood at $4,310 per ton in 2022, surging by 73% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 208% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Sudan ($4,700 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda stood at $4,184 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Sudan (+24.9%).
Refined Groundnut Oil Imports in Uganda
In 2022, the amount of refined groundnut oil imported into Uganda skyrocketed to 3.6 tons, picking up by 108% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports recorded a remarkable increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, refined groundnut oil imports soared to $4.3K in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the last three years.
