Recovered Fibre Pulp Price in Denmark (FOB) - 2022

The average recovered fibre pulp export price stood at $675 per ton in 2022, rising by 222% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 516%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,706 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,673 per ton), while the average price for exports to Faroe Islands ($197 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greenland (+16.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Recovered Fibre Pulp Price in Denmark (CIF) - 2023

In May 2023, the average recovered fibre pulp import price amounted to $629 per ton, surging by 4.5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 an increase of 57% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $866 per ton. From September 2022 to May 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Estonia ($720 per ton) and Poland ($678 per ton), while the price for Germany ($502 per ton) and Austria ($674 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Recovered Fibre Pulp Exports in Denmark

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of recovered fibre pulp, when their volume decreased by -96.3% to 786 tons. Overall, exports continue to indicate a precipitous decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 328%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 21K tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, recovered fibre pulp exports contracted notably to $530K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 239%.

For the fourth year in a row, Denmark recorded growth in supplies from abroad of recovered fibre pulp, which increased by 44% to 2.8K tons in 2022. Overall, imports posted significant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, recovered fibre pulp imports fell modestly to $1.7M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 72% against the previous year.
