Recovered Fibre Pulp Price in Canada (CIF) - 2023
The average recovered fibre pulp import price stood at $374 per ton in June 2023, rising by 655% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a deep contraction. The import price peaked at $1,168 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Brazil amounted to -5.4% per month.
Recovered Fibre Pulp Price in Canada (FOB) - 2023
The average recovered fibre pulp export price stood at $519 per ton in June 2023, surging by 22% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 60% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $960 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($1,095 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($120 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+23.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Recovered Fibre Pulp Imports in Canada
In 2022, imports of recovered fibre pulp into Canada skyrocketed to 151K tons, growing by 75% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 177%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, recovered fibre pulp imports skyrocketed to $50M in 2022. Overall, imports posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 128%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Recovered Fibre Pulp Exports in Canada
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of recovered fibre pulp decreased by -15.6% to 37K tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 110% against the previous year.
In value terms, recovered fibre pulp exports dropped rapidly to $18M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 62%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $22M, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
