The average pulp; of bamboo export price stood at $1,036 per ton in 2022, surging by 10% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 70%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,565 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,611 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($957 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average pulp; of bamboo import price stood at $978 per ton in 2022, dropping by -23.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 188% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,571 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for South Korea.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Thailand amounted to +8.6% per year.
Pulp; of Bamboo Exports in China
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of pulp; of bambooes, when their volume decreased by -5.6% to 6.5K tons. In general, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 102%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 6.9K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, pulp; of bamboo exports totaled $6.8M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 138%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
