Wood Chips and Particles Production in the United States - 2022

In 2022, the amount of wood chips and particles produced in the United States declined slightly to 45M cubic meters, approximately equating 2021 figures. Over the period under review, production recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 2.4%. Over the period under review, production attained the peak volume at 46M cubic meters in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wood chips and particles production rose sharply to $1.1B in 2022. In general, the total production indicated a resilient expansion from 2017 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the last five-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -6.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the production volume increased by 35%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $1.2B. From 2021 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.
