Processed Meat Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average processed meat export price amounted to $7,011 per ton, with a decrease of -3.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 7.4%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,255 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($13,998 per ton), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($3,793 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Processed Meat Price in Italy (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average processed meat import price amounted to $5,463 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 9.4%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,497 per ton in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($11,010 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($3,590 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Processed Meat Exports in Italy

After three years of growth, shipments abroad of processed meat decreased by -0.5% to 436K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 10% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 438K tons, leveling off in the following year.

In value terms, processed meat exports contracted to $3.1B in 2022.
