Printed Circuit Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023

The average printed circuit import price stood at $1.9 per unit in September 2023, increasing by 18% against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 58% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in September 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Japan ($7.6 per unit), while the price for France ($232 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Printed Circuit Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average printed circuit export price amounted to $4.5 per unit, declining by -10.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 41% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $5.4 per unit in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($9.7 per unit), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($734 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Printed Circuit Imports in the United States

For the fourth year in a row, the United States recorded growth in purchases abroad of printed circuits, which increased by 161% to 6M units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, printed circuit imports surged to $2.8B in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 34%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Printed Circuit Exports in the United States

In 2022, approx. 1.4M units of printed circuits were exported from the United States; picking up by 120% compared with 2021 figures. In general, exports, however, saw a deep downturn. The exports peaked at 1.7M units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, printed circuit exports reached $1.3B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
