The average zinc; waste and scrap import price stood at $1,745 per ton in July 2023, shrinking by -12.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 26% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,752 per ton. From September 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($2,546 per ton), while the price for Kenya ($463 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average zinc; waste and scrap export price stood at $2,331 per ton in July 2023, surging by 12% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a perceptible increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, zinc; waste and scrap export price increased by +21.3% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 84% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,001 per ton. From February 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($3,787 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,217 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
