In January 2024, the average import price for paper, cigarette; in the form of booklets or tubeses amounted to $8,203 per ton, dropping by -11.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 24% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $10,639 per ton in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to January 2024, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Spain ($74,000 per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($6,851 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+16.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the export price showed a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 85%. The export price peaked at $20,690 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($10,703 per ton), while the average price for exports to Montenegro ($5,514 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+21.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imports of paper, cigarette; in the form of booklets or tubeses dropped to $4.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 11%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $5.2M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 146 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, exports of paper, cigarette; in the form of booklets or tubeses contracted to $1.1M in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a strong increase.
