Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022

The average yoghurt and fermented milk import price stood at $3,101 per ton in March 2022, shrinking by -12.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2021 when the average import price increased by 22% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,629 per ton in August 2021; however, from September 2021 to March 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,888 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,061 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022

In March 2022, the average yoghurt and fermented milk export price amounted to $1,078 per ton, rising by 2.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2021 when the average export price increased by 13% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,137 per ton in November 2021; afterwards, it flattened through to March 2022.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In March 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Malaysia ($1,171 per ton) and Timor-Leste ($1,126 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cambodia ($786 per ton) and the Philippines ($1,023 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Indonesia

In 2022, the amount of yoghurt and fermented milk imported into Indonesia reduced markedly to 6K tons, declining by -38.9% on 2021. In general, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 28%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 9.9K tons, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk imports shrank markedly to $23M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 39%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $27M, and then reduced notably in the following year.

Exports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Indonesia

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of yoghurt and fermented milk, when their volume decreased by -22.1% to 15K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 22%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 19K tons, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk exports shrank remarkably to $16M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $20M, and then fell sharply in the following year.
