The average export price for yarn; of flax, multiple (folded) or cableds stood at $33,578 per ton in December 2023, increasing by 4.7% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a noticeable expansion from December 2022 to December 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2023 figures, export price for yarn; of flax, multiple (folded) or cableds increased by +4.7% against November 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2023 when the average export price increased by 57% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $33,596 per ton in July 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to December 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($63,778 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($12,088 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for yarn; of flax, multiple (folded) or cableds amounted to $12,597 per ton, rising by 24% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($50,522 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($7,230 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Yarn; of Flax, Multiple (Folded) or Cabled in Italy

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 23%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, exports of yarn; of flax, multiple (folded) or cableds rose rapidly to $15M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
