In 2022, the average import price for woven fabrics of artificial staple fibres amounted to $2.7 per square meter, falling by -2.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for woven fabrics of artificial staple fibres decreased by -12.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $3.8 per square meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($11 per square meter), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($1.2 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for woven fabrics of artificial staple fibres stood at $30 per square meter in 2022, waning by -7.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 267%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $33 per square meter in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($87 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Democratic Republic of the Congo ($2.3 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+43.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of woven fabrics of artificial staple fibres into Uganda totaled 30K square meters, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 202%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 31K square meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
