Price for Wool, Not Carded or Combed in Australia (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average export price for wool, not carded or combed amounted to $5,491 per ton, surging by 1.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 7.5% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $7,132 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($9,554 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($2,729 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
