In September 2023, the average import price for wood charcoal (including shell or nut charcoal), whether or not agglomerated amounted to $137 per ton, falling by -1.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a slight setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 5.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $151 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Lao People's Democratic Republic ($289 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($130 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
