In August 2023, the average import price for wood charcoal (including shell or nut charcoal), whether or not agglomerated amounted to $799 per ton, surging by 5.1% against the previous month. Over the last ten months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $905 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($1,214 per ton), while the price for Switzerland ($196 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
