Price for Wheat and Meslin Flour in Thailand (CIF) - 2023
The average wheat and meslin flour import price stood at $523 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -3.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 6.3% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $604 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Australia ($651 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($371 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Wheat and Meslin Flour in Thailand (FOB) - 2023
The average wheat and meslin flour export price stood at $816 per ton in July 2023, stabilizing at the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $897 per ton. From February 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($1,005 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic ($603 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Wheat and Meslin Flour in Thailand
In 2022, overseas purchases of wheat and meslin flour decreased by -1.6% to 160K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 17%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 184K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wheat and meslin flour imports surged to $87M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports of Wheat and Meslin Flour in Thailand
