Price for Waste, Parings and Scrap, of Plastics in Germany (FOB) - 2023

The average export price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses stood at $330 per ton in October 2023, waning by -10.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 18% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $490 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($481 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($117 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses stood at $329 per ton in October 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 21% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $484 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($2,504 per ton), while the price for Switzerland ($208 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, exports of waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses amounted to $404M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20%. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
