The average export price for vermiculite, perlite and chlorites; unexpandeds stood at $80.4 per ton in July 2023, reducing by -9.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 74% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $106 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($100 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($52.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for vermiculite, perlite and chlorites; unexpandeds stood at $537 per ton in 2022, jumping by 46% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($665 per ton), while the price for Uzbekistan ($372 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
