The average import price for vegetables (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water); frozen stood at $1,515 per ton in October 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a temperate increase from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, import price for vegetables (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water); frozen decreased by -8.4% against August 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 33% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,653 per ton. From September 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The export price peaked at $2,337 per ton in September 2023, and then reduced modestly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($4,738 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($735 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 38%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 53K tons, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
