The average import price for vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds stood at $660 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 15% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $704 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were the UK ($693 per ton) and the Netherlands ($667 per ton), while the price for France ($577 per ton) and Denmark ($627 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds amounted to $544 per ton, growing by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $771 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($657 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($413 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+21.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds into Morocco soared to 55K tons, picking up by 51% compared with the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.2% over the last three years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
