In 2022, the average import price for vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds amounted to $546 per ton, rising by 2.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 20%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $777 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($663 per ton), while the price for Germany ($436 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (-2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds decreased by -30.3% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $392 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($293 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($80 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Armenia (+97.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds increased by 20% to 2.2K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, faced a deep setback.
